Paws in Jobland -the online career information site for kids from Bridges Transitions Inc. Use the Job Finder survey questions to find some job suggestions for you. Browse the Jobland database for information on 100 jobs. (Password required-ask your teacher.)
WorkBC: Careers -explore over 200 jobs! Use the Search line to find information on the job. Other useful resources: browse the job lists alphabetically, browse the Key Industries index, get information on Career Planning
Careers in Science -read about some Canadian scientists and discoveries; find out about actual science-related jobs in Canada (Job Search).
Occupational Outlook Handbook 2012-2013 - A handbook gives lots of information in a small space! The listing is huge--you should have an idea of what you are looking for before you start. Then,
        • Type your job name in the Search bar and find it quickly; or,
        • Use the alphabetical Index links; or,
        • Use the Industry menus on the left side navigation bar.
This resource is based on American job information, which may vary from ours.
CareerKids -another large listing, but not as big as the above. It is probably easier to read. It has clear sub-headings to help you find information about the job.
Kids.gov Careers pages . This is the Grades K to 5 page, see also the Grades 6-8 drop-down menu for Careers. Resources are from the U.S. Government.

Ten Steps to Better Decision Making - It's short and right on! (From Service Canada's Training and Careers site.) There is also a link to a survey that helps to identify problems you might have in making decisions.

The School Health Website from Interior Health; includes information on vision, hearing, dental care, infectious diseases, nutrition, tobacco. There are links to a monthly health newsletter, "Stan and Fran", and a nutrition newsletter, "Potato Post"
Health-Promoting Schools- School District 23 has adopted HPS, an internationally recognized framework for supporting improvements in students' educational outcomes while addressing school health in a planned, integrated and holistic way. This site presents information and resources for students, parents, and teachers.
KidsHealth.org home page -This site has excellent information about health topics, such as Feelings, Illnesses and Injuries, Health Problems, Growing Body and Mind, Staying Safe, and a Kids Dictionary of Medical Words! You can browse feature articles or use the Search line. (From Nemours, a non-profit organization promoting children's health)

Vitamins -what they are and in which foods; from HowStuffWorks.com
Nutrients, Vitamins, Minerals, and Dietary Information -lots of information. The Vitamins and Minerals table about halfway down the page shows the value of each and which foods are good sources.
Knowing Your Vitamins and Minerals -also lists important vitamins and minerals, describing what they do and which foods have them.

KidsHealth.org-Feelings -covers family, friends, school issues, bullying
Out On a Limb-A Guide to Getting Along . Have you ever had a problem getting along with someone? Learn about the "think and share" way to work out problems, so that everyone feels better. This lesson is from the University of Illinois Extension Schools Online.
Safe, Caring  & Orderly Schools Resources (BC Ministry of Education)-Descriptions, documents, and links to resources and programs dealing with bullying. This list includes materials for parents, schools, and classroom teachers. An example is Focus on Bullying, developed for elementary school in Vancouver.
Registry of Anti-Bullying Programs (Ontario Ministry of Education)-This is a very long, alphabetical list of program information, with links or contact info. Examples are: Roots of Empathy (being used in schools here in BC), Lions Quest programs, RespectEd (Red Cross), and the Steps To Respect/Second Step programs (Committee for Children)
