Internet Public Library (University of Michigan)-another huge collection of sites, by subject, with reference resources, including newspapers and magazines. The Kidspace section includes online stories to read, links for Art, Music, Science, the World, Computers, and Math.
Enchanted Learning-This is a large and complex site with several specialties: science topics (birds, butterflies, dinosaurs, rain forest, whales, etc.), history (explorers), and classroom materials (check out the array of graphic organizers, music notation aids...). Some pages are very student appropriate, but the site itself can be confusing (it also has a commercial component). Add a link for the specific page(s) you want students to use to a Links document (MS Word) in your Class folder.
Games Kids Play-Here is the source for all those games kids have played for generations--hundreds of them!
KidsClick-a searchable collection of sites for kids, by librarians (Dewey subject catagories). [Note: I have not checked this out yet, but it comes highly recommended. If you use it, I would appreciate your comments. Thanks, DM]

Health-Promoting Schools-School District 23 has adopted HPS, an internationally recognized framework for supporting improvements in students' educational outcomes while addressing school health in a planned, integrated and holistic way. This site presents information and resources for students, parents, and teachers.

Schools of California Online Resources for Education (S.C.O.R.E.)
-CyberGuides are literature activities, by grade (Calif. Curric.); lists book titles and has a set of activities for each one--many well known authors and titles
-Activity Bank, includes Graphic Organizers, Journaling (lots of different types), Literature strategies
-Phonics Link, actual classroom strategies for instruction and practice
-Rubrics-look under the Teacher Activities, may be something useful
Bills Games-It's a bit slow, but you can play various word games, board games, puzzles, etc., here. You might want to check out specific games, and put a link on a class web list document.

Lorraine Baron's Math Teacher's Web Site Lots of resource links here (Lorraine is the SD23 Math specialist).
Project Interactivate-Activities and tools for exploring math concepts, patterns, tesselations, geometry and measurement, probablility, data analysis, algebra. Curriculum (US) matched to grades 3-5 and middle school grades. The teachers' side gives lesson plans with links to the tools (Java applets which do cool things!); the student side has activites and direct access to the tools so you can explore, or apply to your own needs (such as patterning or graphing).
List of Online Math Resources (Guide to Online Schools)-This article provides helpful explanations, sample problems and tests, detailed diagrams, and even games.

Dana Foundation's BrainyKids-This private foundation funds research in several areas of medicine and the arts. The Brainy Kids site provides links to other web resources, including game activities related to science and health, science "lab" presentations (cells, DNA, disections, brain research, and science fairs), and lesson plan resources for teachers.
Links at the top of this page take you to Dana's main interests in brain research, immunology, and arts education.
BCHydro Education pages-describes BC Hydro's School Campaigns and Energy Modules for K-3, 4-7, and 8-12. The modules are downloadable PDF files. Also accessable from the site (under Info: Our System), is a description of the generation, transmission, and distribution systems in BC.
SkyMaps.com-download a free sky map each month, showing stars, constellations, planets, and any other objects visible.
LearningScience.org-This site brings together numerous interactive science and math tools. Unit specific teaching resources include Physical Science, Life Science, and Science and Society.
Exploring Ancient World Cultures-Although prepared for a college level course, this site may be useful as background info. It also provides an index to links for chronologies, images, and other texts. The cultures are: The Near East, India, Egypt, China, Greece, Rome, Early Islam, and Medieval Europe.

History of British Columbia Website-This site is a directory of internet resources about the history of BC. It is a guide to primany and secondary sources for research (advanced reading level).
Technology Integration and Resources
Making Good Lessons Quickly-Jamie McKenzie's Module Maker 2 site-3 Prime Questions (Why, How, Which is best?); Content; Lesson templates. This site is about good lesson design, whether using digital or print content. Although he keeps it simple, it may take some rethinking to adopt this more "constructivist" approach to lesson design.
