Explorers of Canada-from Enchanted Learning; more than you've ever heard of! But Jacques Cartier, John Cabot, Samuel de Champlain, and all the rest are here!
Discoverers Web-Explorers of the New World - Actually, this site collects information and illustrations on exploration from ancient times, including the Phoenicians, Greeks, and Romans. There is lots of material on the European explorers too, although much of it may be too advanced for elementary students.
Bartlett Elementary School-Explorers - Here is a great site created by grade 5 and 6 students in 2000. You will find it easy to navigate and easy to read, with illustrations and activities. It covers the usual European explorers (Columbus, Cartier, Cabot, Magellan....), and has a timeline chart.
First Nations of North America
The Canadian Museum of Civilization-First Peoples - very advanced text (teacher reference), but contains photos and illustrations of general interest. Also has specific studies on the Haida and the Inuit (see below), and links to many other topics related to aboriginal peoples.

Rulers-Site contains lists of heads of state (Kings, Queens, Presidents, etc.), heads of governments (Prime Ministers, Governors, Premiers, etc.), and religious leaders, of all countries, back to about 1700 AD. Many of these have links to biographical entries. There are also directories of international organizations and of recent events, by month, since 1996.
